In a scene depicted in the Perhamon Altar, the giant Alkyoneos reaches for his mother, Ge (or Earth), as Athena battles him. As long as Alkyoneos has contact with his mother, he cannot be killed. I guess moms have always been like that—even in ancient Rome.
